One of the country’s leading independent schools, Magdalen College School in Oxford, appointed Blakedown Sport & Play to help design and build their new artificial sports pitch.
The full-size pitch, to be used for hockey and football, was constructed onto an engineered base of two-layer macadam, a 15mm in-situ shockpad, and surfaced with the high specification, FIH approved, sand-dressed monofilament hockey turf Edel Triple T.
The construction included a twin-bar sports fencing system with turf covered kickboards, goal recesses for cross-play football, a large tarmac spectator area with rail-fencing down one side of the pitch, and a new modular changing block.
Included in the contract, Blakedown carried out extensive tree planting and soft landscaping, and supplied hockey and football goals, team shelters emblazoned with the school’s crest, and other sports equipment.
